Abstract
We report measurements of magnetoresistance and magnetization in a polycrystalline La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 sample. The results show the way in which a magnetic field is applied may change the phase-separated nature of the compound, clearly distinguishing two different effects: domain alignment and field-induced ferromagnetic fraction enlargement. The latter is strongly enhanced in a field-cooled cooling experiment, giving rise to low resistivity values, and providing clear evidence for the percolative nature of the colossal magnetoresistance of manganites.
