The study of the thermodynamic behavior of vortex lattices is an excelent toy-model to understand
the response of elastic lattices nucleated in a substrate. We show that, contrary to what is usualy
accepted for first order liquid-solid transitions, the melting of the superconducting vortex matter
in the presence of a dilute concentration of correlated defects does not require a change of the
structural symmetry.
